Personalizing PD through choice in path and demonstrating mastery

Highlander Institute’s Bingo Board allows educators the opportunity to choose not only the way they learn but also how they illustrate mastery of the content at hand. The tool is also linked to core skills educators need to be successful within a blended environment. 

The Highlander Institute uses the Bingo Board PD structure to model a blended/flipped approach for teachers. Engaging teachers in this model allows them to experience blended from the standpoint of a learner and the opportunity to approach the content in multiple ways. The Bingo Board structure includes elements of:

• Choice over activities
• Variations in Path and Pace
• Option of working anywhere
• Opportunities for collaboration
• Competition through Gamification

Teachers also have ongoing access to the site and Bingo Board following the PD experience and can reference tools and strategies at their convenience.
