To support teachers in their rollout of the grade interview strategy, Austin ISD’s Strategy Lab team created an initial presentation about the pilot process, explaining the reasoning behind the pilot and soliciting input from teachers on how to improve the process moving forward. This initial deck helped launch the grade interview pilot by establishing clear messaging and transparency.
To support teachers in their rollout of the grade interview strategy, Austin ISD’s Strategy Lab team created a simple one-pager with the essential information required. The “Field Guide” includes teacher and student actions as well as checklists for completing the work.
Following the rollout of curriculum blueprints for remote instruction, Austin ISD’s academic team sought feedback. The team surveyed teachers and students in October of 2020 and then again in December of 2020, helping to surface trends in usage, as well as problems and opportunities for improvement.
To create curriculum blueprints for teachers to use for their remote instruction during the pandemic, Austin ISD’s academics team restructured their coaching model. By integrating coaches across subject-areas, they were able to more effectively and efficiently create blueprints for teachers of content focused on prioritizing standards. The team formed micro-teams called “Blue Crews” to organize creating the blueprints.
To support the roll-out and adoption of Austin ISD’s curriculum blueprints, the academic team created a simple one-page internal guide for designing the blueprints. This guide played a pivotal role in ensuring a baseline of quality as well as consistency across subject areas and grade levels, contributing to wide adoption of the blueprints by teachers during remote learning.
