Education Elements and The Learning Accelerator partnered to create this communications guide which includes a streamlined planning process, real-world examples from eight school districts, and up-to-date resources and artifacts.
Lovett partnered with LEAP innovations to help them change their approach to teaching and learning. The partnership resulted in grants, workshops, and ongoing supports to help implement blended and personalized learning.
Lovett uses learning specialists, student teachers, and aides to improve student access to educators throughout their instructional day.
Lovett determined that grading student progress against grade level was not a good measurement for their students. Instead Lovett measures progress based on students’ current level of knowledge, ensuring their grades are an accurate reflection of academic progress.
Lovett has students demonstrate mastery of knowledge and application of a skill. Mastery of knowledge is shown by achieving 80% on an assessment, while students are able to choose from a variety of methods to demonstrate mastery of application of a skill.
Lovett uses the Common Core State Standards but modifies them to better meet the needs of their students, often teaching additional skills students make need to successfully master the standards.
Lovett students have access to all of their data throughout the year and are provided with structures to help them think about their data and connect it to their learning goals.
Through daily individual prep periods and an extended co-planning session each Friday, Lovett teachers work together to align curriculum, plan activities to engage students and use data to uncover areas where students need improvement.
Students use daily tracker sheets to set goals, monitor their progress and reflect on their learning. Tracker sheets provide rich information to inform student/teacher conferences.
